Born in the rough streets of Tiger’s Bay, Belfast, Trevor knew religion from the cradle — Sunday school, Boys’ Brigade, church every week. But as he’ll tell you himself, he was “as dark as night” — a thief who’d have taken the eye out of your head, with football as his true god and cards as his vice.
Struck down by polio as a boy, his dream of the football pitch died before it began. Yet a greater purpose was at work. At seventeen, under the preaching of Dr. Ian Paisley, he heard the gospel for the first time. Still, religion wasn’t enough — until a Saturday morning in November 1966, at three minutes to noon, when he knelt in a little flat in North Belfast and rose a sinner saved by grace.
From a young man who couldn’t speak to a soul, God raised up a preacher of the very message that rescued him.
“I didn’t get religion that day — I got redemption. I got Christ.”
