William Tyndale, born in Gloucestershire, England around 1490. He was a scholar and theologian whose translation of the New Testament was the first ever to be printed in English. His simple, clear style was a model for the King James bible. Tyndale’s dying words were, “Lord, open the king of England’s eyes.”
