I’m sure by now everyone has heard of the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10th at a college campus in Utah, United States of America. You may have also encountered some of the mainstream media’s commentary about him. While I was not an avid follower of Charlie Kirk, I have watched several of his online videos. Sadly, there is a significant amount of misleading information in the news—local, national, and international—that has taken brief statements of Charlie Kirk out of context and portrayed him in a way that does not align with reality. Let us remember that the mainstream media often promotes an anti-God agenda. Never forget this. I strongly condemn those who attempt to denigrate or misrepresent Charlie Kirk’s beliefs.
We have witnessed thousands of confused young people, indoctrinated with a woke message of hatred, openly celebrating the death of someone they could not debate. Charlie Kirk never once spread a message of hate toward any person. In this message, I would like to briefly outline what he truly believed, using his own words. Before doing so, however, I want to express my deepest sympathy to his wife, Erika, whom I have never met. As I understand, funeral proceedings are currently taking place in the United States. Erika is now a widow, her husband murdered at the young age of 31, leaving her to raise their two small children—a boy and a girl. We offer our heartfelt sympathies and ask you to keep the family in your prayers, not only now but in the days to come.
Charlie’s Conversion Experience
Charlie Kirk was born into a Christian home and gave his life to Christ at the age of 11 while attending Christian Heritage Academy. In his testimony, he shared, “I heard a hot gospel, and I realized the stakes in fifth grade. I’m a sinner, I’m selfish, I’m broken, and only thanks to Jesus’ perfect sacrifice—coming and living a perfect life—do I receive something I do not earn but has been given to me: the free gift of eternal life.” His parents were members of the Presbyterian Church in the United States of America but left the denomination after Charlie’s conversion due to its compromises at the time.
Charlie’s Beliefs
Charlie believed in salvation through Jesus Christ alone, describing himself as a sinner saved by grace. He emphasized that salvation is a free gift, not earned through works or merit. He viewed Jesus’ sacrifice—taking on humanity’s punishment—as the ultimate act of grace, allowing believers to be born anew by the Holy Spirit and live eternally with God.
Charlie affirmed the Bible as true, reliable, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative, citing its historical and archaeological consistency as well as its transformative wisdom. He believed that applying biblical principles leads to a better life and saw the resurrection of Jesus as the cornerstone of his faith, validating Christianity’s claims.
Charlie advocated for Christians to influence key societal spheres—government, education, media, family, business, arts, and religion—aligning them with biblical values. He called for Christian dominion in these areas, reflecting his belief that faith should shape culture and politics.
He saw Christianity as the moral foundation for discerning right from wrong and supported policies like displaying the Ten Commandments in classrooms. Through Turning Point USA Faith, he worked to unite churches around core Christian doctrines and combat secularism and wokeism in religious spaces.
He was passionate about sharing the gospel, describing a commitment to Christ as “the most freeing, liberating thing a person could do.” He believed Christians have a biblical responsibility to uphold truth and morality in society, warning that habitual lying distorts one’s soul. He also emphasized the importance of personal relationships with God, family, and close friends as central to a meaningful and purposeful life.
Charlie Kirk identified as an evangelical and clearly stated his views on the errors of Roman Catholic doctrine, particularly regarding the authority of the papacy, Mariology, and transubstantiation, among others.
His Testimony
The following is a number of interviews where he shared reflections on his life and faith:
“If I could be associated with one thing, I want to be remembered for courage and for my faith—that would be the most important thing. Everyone dies; it’s important to remind yourself of that. You face God, the Judge, and He’s going to list everything you did wrong in your life. For me, that’s a long sentencing hearing. Will you get justice, which is hell, because that’s what we deserve? Or mercy, which is less than that? Or grace? Grace is so unique, so profound. As soon as the sentencing is about to be ushered in, someone comes in and says, ‘No, I will serve that prison sentence for him or her so they can live forever.’ That’s grace. You didn’t earn it; you didn’t check boxes for it. It’s equally accessible to all people who allow Jesus Christ to be their Savior, to be born anew, and to be completely renewed. That’s a gift we must try to share with all people in the world.”
Charlie reflected on his blessed life, noting, “I’ve been doing this for 12 years since June 5th—such a young man to do it. I’ve been all across the world, met with world leaders, flown on Air Force One, got to know a president. I have an amazing family, Turning Point USA, the podcast—all that stuff. But what matters is your relationship with the divine, your family, your kids, and a close collection of friends, and your relationship with the truth. When you lie, I believe you’re committing suicide of the soul.”
When asked if he was a Christian, he replied, “Very, very much so. Jesus saved my life. I’m a sinner, gave my life to Christ—the most important decision I ever made.” On the Bible, he said, “I believe the Bible is true and real. There’s never been an archaeological discovery that has contradicted the truth of the Bible. If you apply its truths to your life, your life improves dramatically. We have the most accurate, transparent, historically robust account of the most important figure ever to live, Jesus of Nazareth. The resurrection is the pinpoint of my belief—that Jesus rose from the grave so we may live. For those who have not given their life to Christ, I can tell you it is the most freeing, liberating thing a human being can do. It’s the most important step—to be born anew into the kingdom of God.”
A Christian Martyr
In the last moments of Charlie’s life, he was speaking about his saving faith in Christ and warning about LGBTQ+ violence against Christians and the church. I believe his enduring testimony echoes that of Stephen, the first Christian martyr. Acts 6:10 says, “They were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.” According to Open Doors, in 2024, 4,476 individuals were murdered worldwide because they took a stand for the person and work of Jesus Christ.
I conclude with the words of John Wesley, who said, “Give me a hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, desire nothing but God, and care not whether they be clergymen or laymen. They alone shall shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on earth.”
If he were alive today, I believe the late Dr. Ian R.K. Paisley would have endorsed these words. May the Lord give Ulster a hundred, a thousand, preachers as fearless as Charlie Kirk—and more.

“I have some big disagreements with Catholicism, and the first of which would be Mariology…I personally, would not be able to enter into a faith that believes that anybody except Jesus Christ our Lord was without sin and that’s my final comment on Mariology.” – Charlie Kirk, (23rd July 2025) https://youtu.be/jzUBMlqF1tA?t=30
