On Wednesday 8th March 2023, our church held an election of office bearers. The Presbyterian form of church government is such that those in the oversight and running of the local church must be democratically elected by its communicant members. The qualifications of an elder and deacon are found in 1 Timothy 3:1-16

Over the past 3 weeks, our minister has been preaching on the Presbyterian form of church government which can be viewed below.

Independent church elders from Comber Free Presbyterian Church, led by Rev. Thomas Martin, carried out the 2 elections. The election of elders resulted in Mr. Laurence Crawford being elected with a vote equal to or above the 50%+1 requirement. Mr. Laurence Crawford is now elder elect, subject to final ratification by the general presbytery. An ordination service will be announced in the coming months.

The election of deacons resulted in the election of Mr. Wilfred Crawford, Mr. Alan Irvine, and Mr. Mark Stronge, each with a vote of at least 1/3 or more of communicants.

Back Row, Alan Irvine, Mark Stronge, Wilfred Crawford
Front Row: George Anderson, Rev. David McLaughlin, Laurence Crawford

Please pray for our church as we move forward in God’s will.
