On Sunday 7th July 2024, special long service presentations were made at Carryduff Free Presbyterian Church. Mr. William Smith, outgoing treasurer, was presented with a Bible and gift for his dedication and self-sacrifice in running the Church treasury for 25 years. Mr. Alan Irvine, the newly appointed treasurer, presented the gifts and gave a heartfelt thank you on behalf of the Session, Committee, members and congregants as he continues the work on into the future.
Rev. David McLaughlin, minister of Carryduff, then gave a tribute to the tireless work in the Sunday School, for over 40 years, by Mr. Wilfred Crawford who, along with the late Robert Lowe, started the Sunday School in the Autumn of 1976 in the old Killynure Schoolhouse. A presentation was made to Mr. Crawford of a Thomas Nelson Study Bible as well as a photo of the old Schoolhouse mounted on one of its original roof slates. Mrs. Rosemary McLaughlin then presented a gift and flowers to Mrs. Barbara Crawford for her work in the Sunday School along with her husband and paid tribute to how the Sunday School and Children’s meetings were run so well. Mention was made of those children that gave their hearts and lives to the Lord with the Rev. McLaughlin thanking the Lord for the faithfulness of His servants and praying for a blessing to be upon the work going forward.
A supper was provided for all in attendance.
