A reading for Good Friday
As the professing Christian Church celebrates another Good Friday across the world, let us remind ourselves of what it ultimately means. When he cried triumphantly “It is finished.”, Christ was declaring that his death was the ultimate once-for-all sacrifice for sin, that the work of securing Eternal Redemption was complete.
As the God-Man, His physical death on the cross meant that He was paying the penalty for our sin that we owed to the broken law of God. Christ Died to save us from the penalty of sin, He died to break the power of sin in our lives, He died to take the love of sinning out of our hearts and, if we receive Him by faith as Lord and Saviour, we can be forgiven of all our sins, enjoy Everlasting Life, and be assured of a home in Heaven.
