“As you know, over the last few weeks and months, the committee has been meeting, primarily for prayer, as we seek the mind and will of God to move forward.
“On Tuesday night past, the committee unanimously agreed to accept the price that we’ve been given by a builder to put up the “first fix” of the superstructure, consisting of block and steel work, of our proposed church building. In light of this decision, we are now arranging to meet with the Finance Committee of our Presbytery to approve a plan of action for the finance and building of the church. We are also arranging to have the Moderator of our church to come to a stone laying ceremony which will be held as soon as possible. This project is going ahead, so that is a bit of encouragement for you.
“There has been a lot of doubt on whether or not this building work will go ahead. I want to make it clear that there is a future, not only for this denomination, but for this church, even after the life and legacy of Dr. Paisley, the Lord may take his workmen home, but his work goes on.
“I have never had any doubt that it is God’s will, that we go forward, and build a building to the glory of God. So I want YOU to tell the good news to everyone you meet. Secondly, I want you to pray about this. We are going to need another £100,000 – £150,000. We have the money to pay the builder on what he is going to do, but we will need around £20,000 for the steelwork. Even as we met on Tuesday night, God had laid it on the heart of a dear lady to give a gift of £1,000 for the building project. How rich are the blessings that God gives us?
“If God is for us, who can be against us? Hallelujah.
